Heheheh.
As Doddy suggests, the Bestower is a hauler ship, but you can get some shock value if you get attacked by frigates and it turns out that you've fitted your ship to trap and kill the attackers. Such tactics don't work twice, but the first time it's fun.
The bread and butter of transporting goods are Expanded Cargohold modules, which expand your ship's cargo, obviously. You fill all the low slots with these, and further expand your cargo capacity by using containers (look at giant secure containers on the market), which have some built-in volume compression.
The ship has a huge CPU but little power grid, and power grid is what limits the size of weapons, afterburners, and defenses you can put in.
Because you've used all the low slots for cargo expansion, you're forced to used the med slots for defense, and that means shield defense. Fit the largest shield extender that you can find (it'll use up most of your power grid), and then fit shield resistance modules (EM especially) to shore up the shield toughness.
The high slots can be fitted with utility modules. Small Tractor Beam is useful for pulling cans to you rather than having to fly in a slow bulky ship towards them. One mining laser if you're going to sit in a belt to help a mining operation by carrying their ore to station as they mine it. Otherwise, if you're actually transporting stuff between stations, maybe a cloak could help you get away in some situations, but you'll have to read up on gate camps and PVP to get an idea of how to use that.
Expanded Cargoholds slow down your ship a lot. So, if you're going to transport something small, remove them and replace them with an armor defense (Damage Control, perhaps Armor Plates, definitely armor resistance modules), or with speed modules such as Overdrive Injectors or Nanofiber Internal Structures. This will make your journey faster.
For transporting things, be aware of gate camps, and suicide ganking in high sec. Basically if the value of goods in your cargo hold is high (typically more than 5-10 million ISK), it's worth sacrificing a 1 million ISK ship to kill you and loot your stuff. This happens in high sec, so be vigilant. Never use the autopilot to travel; set a route in the map but manually right-click on each yellow gate on the way and order your ship to warp to 0, so you're less vulnerable.
For mining, you need to mine in a vessel that has many turret slots, large CPU, and possibly bonuses to mining yield. You jet the ore into space (it's vulnerable to theft), and you pick it up periodically with your Bestower. If you're in a group, others can mine and you can transport it to station for them in your Bestower.
Otherwise you can open the Contracts interface and switch it to Courier contracts, and try to see what's available. Courier contracts are made by other players who need somebody with a transport ship to move their stuff around. You're looking for jobs that ask you to move stuff between high-sec locations, that are of a size that fits in your Bestower, and that are paying well (Reward is high, Collateral is average for the market). Beware of scams, such as routes that send you to pirate space or to 0.0 space where you can't dock, or contracts that look too good to be true.
Don't feel bad for training for and buying an industrial ship. Every pilot needs one; it'll be extremely useful to you no matter what your intended career is. There is so much junk to move around in EVE |
